Purses for a Purpose

Purses with a Purpose
The goal of this event is to provide purses and handbags filled with comfort items to women who are victims of abuse. The goal is for new purses or very gently used handbags, usually filled with socks, journals, toiletries, slippers, etc, to be donated to the CMUPD or FSUDPS. Perishable items are acceptable as well. The facilities also advised they would greatly appreciate paper products, and cleaning products.
The items received will be going to WISE on the west side and Women’s Aide Service Inc. on the East side.
The project dates run from April 18th-April 29th since April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
The collection sites will be the two agency departments,the CMUPD and the FSUDPS, during normal business hours. There will also be a drop off site at the MSP Post in Mt. Pleasant, if individuals want to drop off items to help Ferris or CMU, they will be separated by school at the post. At the end of the event the Post can pick up the purses from the locations and help tally up the final count.
We are all hopeful the friendly competition between the two schools will help increase our donations.

MSP - Hart Post will be collecting donations through the month of April, Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm, for new bags with tags, filled with comfort items to benefit Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters (C.O.V.E) and the West Shore Community College. They will be distributed to suvivors of sexual/domestic assult and other people in need.
