MCACC Rise and Shine: The Salvation Army

Join the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce at The Salvation Army Big Rapids for their monthly Rise-n-Shine networking event! The Salvation Army will be providing a special look ahead at plans for increased service to the community, as well as a look back to why they do what they do.

Pumpkins are Free on a First Come, First Serve Basis.

3rd Annual Winter Clothing Giveaway

From 5:30PM to 7:00PM

Third Annual Community Resource Group Winter Clothing Giveaway

Location: First United Methodist Church at 304 Elm Street in downtown Big Rapids

 

We are asking for donations of coats, boots, gloves, scarves, and any other winter clothes!

*Please note that this event is held during the community meal. The community meal is held weekly and the giveaway is a onetime event.

MSP Citizens' Academy

From 6:30PM to 9:00PM

The Michigan State Police (MSP) Mt. Pleasant Post is pleased to announce a Citizens' Academy, which will start September 7th, 2017, and end October 26, 2017. The eight-week academy will give citizens the opportunity to become familiar with the mission and operation of the MSP, understand the procedures troopers follow, increase their awareness of law enforcement's role in the community, and get to know personnel at the Mt. Pleasant Post.

The eight-week academy will meet at the Morton Township Fire Hall, 8260 100th Ave., Stanwood, MI. 49346, on Thursday evenings from 6:30 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. A graduation ceremony will be held on October 26th, 2017. 

Individuals who are interested in attending the Citizens' Academy should contact Trooper Michael White at the Mt. Pleasant Post at 989-621-6266 or via email at Whitem27@michigan.gov to receive an application. 

You must be 21 to apply.
