July is blood month and it means donating blood is a priority to saving lives. Every two seconds, someone in the US needs blood. By donating one pint of blood, three lives can be saved. Registering is easy and it's simple, the actual donation of blood only takes 10-12 minutes. Contact the Red Cross and donate today. The more you donate the more you save lives!

The Salvation Army and it's partners are teaming up to provide free backpacks and school supplies to students in Mecosta and Osceola Counties.
Stop at Walmart in Big Rapids on the following dates and donate new school supplies! Below is a list of items that need to be donated:
Donate These Supplies:
- Youth Backpacks
- Pencils, Pens, Pocket Folders
- Loose Leaf Paper, Kleenex
- Crayons, Markers, Glue Sticks
- Notebooks, Rulers, Erasers
Items may also be donated at the Salvation Army at 325 Linden St. Big Rapids.

Red Bird Shoot
10:00AM
The Mecosta County Rod & Gun Club will be holding a Redbird Shoot on Saturday, July 29th. Rounds will start at 10:00 am and will continue until all flights are shot. A plaque will be given for the most birds hit. The Public is invited to participate. The club is located 4 miles west of Mecosta on M-20.
